While most schools only offer group classes for preschoolers, we offer personalized one-on-one music lessons for children ages 3-5.
Our preschool music teachers will introduce your child to several different instruments: piano, ukulele, voice, drums, and recorder. After the initial experimentation phase, the teacher will help your child chose one or two instruments to focus on.
Lessons will include games & activities, coloring pages, and learning fun songs. Because these lessons are personalized, your teacher may also choose to incorporate some of your child's favorite songs into the lesson as well.
Your child will get an introduction to the basics of melody, rhythm, and even music reading!
All of our preschool teachers are multi-instrumentalists, meaning they can introduce your child to many different instruments! Take your pick between piano, ukulele, drums, voice, or the recorder.
Your teacher will show your child how to match pitch and sing basic melodies. Your teacher will also introduce some ear training games to help develop their sense of pitch!
Your child will get an introduction to the basics of music reading and learn the names of different types of notes. Activities may include flash card guessing games and coloring pages!
There's a whole language of Italian music terms that musicians need to know! We'll help your child learn some of the most important music terms through fun games and exercises.
Some of our students choose one instrument to focus on, while others like to spend some time "trying out" different instruments. Let your teacher know which option you'd prefer!
Piano is one of the best instruments for young students to start out on. It's easy to small hands to play and it's great for developing finger coordination.
Singing is a great for helping young children develop a sense of pitch! Many preschoolers are still learning how to control their voice, so our teachers will help them discover how to sing high and low.
Playing the drums is a great way for preschoolers to learn rhythm. Students will learn how to use the drumsticks to form a basic drum beat.
Ukulele is one of the best string instruments for young students to learn. It's small, portable, and inexpensive and is a good introduction to strumming chords for children.
The recorder is a good first wind instrument for young children to learn on. It will help them develop breath control and finger coordination.
30-minute lessons are our most popular option at NOLA School of Music. They are ideal for beginners and children who don't have enough material (or the attention span) for a longer lesson.
60-minute weekly lessons are great for adults or intermediate/advanced students. An hour lesson gives your teacher plenty of time to focus on technique, sight-reading, improvisation, and other aspects of music without being rushed.
For many students, 45-minute weekly lessons are the perfect sweet spot. Since 45-minute lessons are difficult to schedule, they may only be available during early afternoon hours or late evening.
